2020 Citizen of the Year
This year the chamber’s Citizen of the Year award went to Luanne Reed.
Faculak noted that Reed grew up in East Jordan, graduated from East Jordan High School and then moved away, before returning to the community 27 years ago to run a small family business with her husband.
She said Reed previously served for six years as a chamber board member, is very active in many capacities at the East Jordan United Methodist Church, volunteers at the Crossroads Resale Shop, serves as a chaplain at the Charlevoix County Jail and also serves on the boards of the East Jordan Senior Center Advisory Council and the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging, among many other areas of community involvement.
“Always willing to help, to give hope, guidance and comfort when needed, our Citizen of the Year is a perfect role model for community involvement, keeping a positive attitude and taking care of others,” Faculak said.
Here are some photos of two projects that have been completed in 2021.
With my able assistant Sarah Parks, here is the stair elevator chair that has been installed so that all may have access to the basement.
The next three show the new enclosure on the front of the church. There is seating now for warmer weather. The sides can be rolled up to let in summer breezes.
We hope it will work efficiently.
